Bethany's Emotional Phone Call
Bethany had just undergone an extensive skin removal surgery in Miami. The operation had succeeded, but the recovery was far more painful than she had imagined. Every movement brought discomfort, and emotionally she felt completely alone. With tears in her eyes, she called Larry — not to ask him to fix anything, but simply to have him beside her. She believed his presence alone would carry her through one of the hardest moments of her life.
Larry listened quietly but refused to return. Their marriage was falling apart, and he believed going back would only complicate things further. Bethany ended the call heartbroken, wondering if the man she had once supported through his darkest struggles had truly stopped caring about her.

Word of Bethany's emotional breakdown reached several family members, who called Larry one after another, reminding him of everything Bethany had done over the years. She had stood beside him through difficult times, encouraged him through emotional struggles, and helped raise Brooke as her own. Compassion, they argued, shouldn't disappear just because a marriage was ending.
Their words stayed with Larry. Hours later, guilt began replacing anger. After a long silence, he packed a small travel bag, booked another flight to Miami, and decided to see Bethany one final time before their divorce became official.
Charlotte's Secret Plan
While Larry was traveling, Charlotte believed Bethany needed support from someone who had cared about her before Larry entered her life. Without telling Larry, she reached out to Jesse, Bethany's former husband. Jesse hesitated at first but agreed to visit after hearing about her difficult surgery.
Inside the hotel room, Jesse sat quietly beside Bethany, who looked exhausted and physically weak. He gently held her hand and wished her a full recovery. The conversation stayed respectful — but neither of them knew Larry was already on his way.

Jesse released her hand at once and tried to calmly explain he was only checking on her after surgery. Larry wasn't interested in hearing it.

Breathing heavily, Larry looked into Bethany's tear-filled eyes and spoke with cold finality.

Without another word, he turned and walked out, leaving Bethany in tears, Jesse wiping blood from his face, and Charlotte frozen in disbelief.

Bethany could barely process what had happened, wondering whether Charlotte's decision to invite Jesse had destroyed any remaining chance of saving her marriage. Jesse apologized repeatedly, insisting he'd never meant to cause conflict. Charlotte blamed herself for believing she was helping when she may have made everything worse.
Outside, Larry sat alone in his car, hands trembling as he stared at his phone — uncertain whether he'd made the right decision, or whether anger had simply taken control of him.
Just as Larry prepared to leave the hotel parking lot for good, his phone rang. The caller ID displayed a name that made his heart stop. At the very same moment, inside Bethany's room, Charlotte opened an envelope slipped under the door — and as Bethany read the first line, her face turned pale.
