Bethany lay quietly on the hospital bed, surrounded by the steady beeping of heart monitors and the scent of medicine. Her recent surgery had left her exhausted. Every movement caused pain, and even taking a deep breath felt impossible.
She stared silently at the white ceiling, wondering how life had become so painful.
The hospital door slowly opened.
A nurse walked inside carrying a small white envelope.
"Bethany... someone left this letter for you."
Her trembling hands reached for the envelope. The moment she saw the handwriting, her heart skipped a beat.
It was Larry's handwriting.
